Crisis Response
24/7 psychological crisis support
With a crisis response service from Human House, you ensure that your employees are in safe hands should an accident or assault occur that calls for psychological crisis support.
Even with the best precautions and a strong focus on prevention, both physical and psychological incidents can still take place at work. Crises can affect you directly, or you might experience them as a witness or as a colleague to someone who has been harmed. When the unexpected happens and you or your colleagues have a reaction, Human House’s team of qualified and experienced crisis psychologists provide immediate support.
A crisis response service provides reassurance
A key feature of a healthy working community is that we support each other when challenges arise. By implementing a crisis response solution, you send a clear signal to all employees that wellbeing and mutual care are a priority at your workplace.
Most people are able to process the actual incident, but if they feel let down by colleagues or management, their reaction may intensify, making it harder to rebuild trust and a sense of security.

Access psychological support to process traumatic experiences
There are many reasons an individual employee or a group may need psychological crisis assistance. What affects us, how frightened or upset we become, and how we express these feelings are highly personal, and reactions to traumatic events can vary greatly. Common to most situations, however, is that it is often unforeseen events that cause distress or anxiety. Many experience a loss of control, so our key aim is to help you or your employee regain control and process the incident in the best possible way.
Our process begins by listening to the person affected and giving them space to describe what has happened. It is entirely normal to feel worry or helplessness. We explain what reactions and symptoms can reasonably be expected over the coming days.
How our crisis response service works
Available 24/7
If your organisation has an agreement with Human House, support can be accessed 24/7 by calling +45 70 10 90 80. We offer both defusing (immediate) and debriefing (in the days following the event) for individual employees and groups.
A psychologist will contact you
After your call, you or the affected employees will be contacted as soon as possible by a psychologist. Outside of regular office hours, the caller can be put directly through to our crisis response partner, Dansk Krisekorps. When contacted, our psychologist will help you assess the need for crisis support and advise on handling the situation in your workplace.
Same-day telephone consultation
It is often most effective to speak by phone with the affected employee(s) on the day of the crisis incident. Usually, those involved need immediate support from colleagues and family, supplemented by professional psychological counselling in relation to the event and their reactions. If we assess that the employee or group would benefit from an in-person meeting with the psychologist on the same day, we will arrange for this.
Follow-up sessions
The initial telephone support on the day of the incident is often supplemented by further, in-depth sessions over the following days. The purpose of these meetings is to help process the crisis experience and any ongoing reactions. After the first session, we will agree with you or the relevant manager how many additional sessions might be needed.
Sessions at our offices or at your workplace
Sessions can be held at one of our offices in Aarhus, Copenhagen, Holstebro, Odense or Kolding, and usually last between one and two hours. If the employee is severely affected, we recommend that someone else drives them to and from the session. Alternatively, sessions can be held in suitable rooms at your own workplace. For group sessions, we usually come to your site.
