Stress

Manage and prevent psychological strain in the workplace

Every day, 460,000 Danes experience symptoms of stress, and many are forced to go on sick leave due to psychological overload. Once the damage is done, it can be difficult to cope with the situation on your own.

At Human House, we offer guidance that helps you move forward and provides you with concrete tools to actively prevent stress in the future. We work at multiple organisational levels and, in close dialogue with you, design the package that will raise your level of prevention and wellbeing.

Stress is a shared issue that requires joint solutions

Unfortunately, there are no quick and easy fixes when it comes to stress. Preventing stress is an ongoing process that demands consistent attention in your daily work, enabling you to recognise the warning signs.

Naturally, management bears a particular responsibility when it comes to psychological strain and wellbeing at work, and leaders should set a good example by managing their own stress. A manager must know how to support an employee affected by stress and what considerations need to be taken. However, as an employee, you are also responsible for looking out for and supporting your colleagues. Taking on this responsibility as a team and as colleagues requires more than just knowledge – it also calls for an understanding of when and how to reach out to a colleague experiencing stress, as well as how to help prevent poor wellbeing.

Book on Biological Stress

The management book Biologisk Stress (Biological Stress) by Tue Isaksen explores workplace communities and the OLFA model. The book highlights why so many Danes are affected by stress every year.

The book is only available in Danish.

How we can help manage and prevent stress in your workplace

Individual counselling sessions

Individual counselling is an offer for those who are already off work due to stress or feel they are on the verge of stress-related absence. Typically, these consist of five sessions, which help uncover and explore the root causes, enabling us to work in depth to develop new behavioural patterns and coping strategies.

All sessions are confidential. If you wish, we can provide your manager with feedback on what measures your workplace could consider to provide better support. This approach not only helps you as an employee return to work faster, but also reduces the risk of psychological overload in the future.

Workplace meetings

Workplace meetings are available to employees affected by stress who wish to meet with a business psychologist together with their manager. These meetings are an ideal way to bring new insights about stress into your workplace and foster mutual understanding between you and your manager. The business psychologist helps identify which aspects of the working environment have contributed to your stress condition and how they can be minimised. Furthermore, the conversation offers managers the opportunity to gain an overview of whether there are general organisational factors that could be changed to create greater well-being and ensure that other employees are not affected by stress.

Talks and workshops

Knowledge is a powerful tool when it comes to managing and preventing workplace stress. But not all knowledge is the same. That is why we deliver talks and workshops tailored to your organisation. Whether we are debunking stress myths, examining the biology behind stress, or providing methods for prevention and management, our talks and workshops are always based on the latest research and delivered in a way that ensures new learning can be directly applied in your workplace – whether you are an employee, health and safety representative, or a manager.
