Supervision

Professional, organisational, and preparatory guidance

Supervision is a method designed to foster development and learning, with the aim of increasing the quality of task execution or enhancing collaborative efforts around a shared task. It is about taking the time to pause and reflect in a safe environment – one where the focus is on growth and learning, both in the way you work and how you work together. Supervision is essentially about becoming more aware of the way you and your colleagues operate – both as managers and employees within your working environment.

Create dialogue and open new possibilities for action

There are many reasons you may require supervision within your organisation. Perhaps you are uncertain about the optimal way to approach a task, facing disagreements on task execution, or working in a role that places high emotional demands on you and your colleagues. Regardless of the reason, our occupational psychologists can support you and your team in identifying new possibilities for action.

We listen carefully to each individual’s perspective on what may be causing difficulties, ask in-depth and explorative questions, and facilitate a structured dialogue on the challenges you are facing – always with the goal of uncovering new options and approaches within your team or organisation.

We offer the following types of supervision

Individual supervision

Group supervision

Professional supervision

Organisational supervision

Development calls for professional supervision

The purpose of professional supervision is to share knowledge and experience around a specific professional challenge, and how it is being managed, in order to raise the standard of professional practice.

A professional supervision process provides an opportunity to reflect on your own role and your approach, with the intention of changing aspects that are not working. Very often, it is just as much about freeing yourself from the emotional strains that come with your job – especially if your work involves interacting with people.

Professional supervision is also highly beneficial during periods of change and development, where you and your team wish to work constructively with cooperation, group dynamics, and/or working methods. The starting point does not necessarily have to be a particular problem; it could just as well be optimising the (leadership) team’s performance.

How we support you with supervision

Before conducting supervision, we clarify together with you as a leader and a representative from the employee group whether the group is ready to engage in supervision and which format best suits your unique group or individual needs. We also consider the context in which supervision takes place and how you, as a leader, can best support the learning outcomes that supervision offers. We are happy to come to your premises, but you and your team are also welcome at our offices, where we have excellent facilities to support the supervision process.

1.

A supervision process can vary in both the number and duration of sessions. Our experience shows it is beneficial to meet regularly, with a few weeks between each session, but we always agree specifically on what best meets the needs of your organisation and the focus of supervision.

2.

At the outset of every supervision session, we align expectations regarding the theme and objectives, and ensure a clear understanding between supervisor and participants regarding roles, structure, and confidentiality.

3.

After each session, we summarise the key points and agree on any further actions, what needs to be carried forward, and who will take responsibility for each step.
