Hearing Tests
Check your hearing and avoid hearing damage
Exposure to noise, whether in your free time or at work, increases your risk of developing chronic hearing loss or noise-induced hearing damage. This can make social activities and everyday tasks more challenging and generally reduce your quality of life. In some cases, hearing loss can also negatively affect your ability to carry out your work productively and safely. That is why it is important to undergo a hearing test if you are exposed to noise.
When am I legally required to have a hearing test?
If your work exposes you to noise levels above 80 dB or peak noise above 135 dB, you must be offered an occupational hearing test.
Get an occupational hearing test and learn more about your hearing
An occupational hearing test involves creating an audiogram of your hearing. Your hearing is tested from 20 dB in both ears, and the audiogram shows whether there has been any hearing loss and/or noise damage. The examination is carried out by a health consultant under the responsibility and supervision of a physician, in accordance with current legislation.
Before the examination, you will complete a questionnaire regarding hearing-related health information. The test itself consists of a hearing screening (audiometry) and, if necessary, an examination of your ear canals (otoscopy). The test takes 15 minutes, and you will receive your results immediately. Based on the results, you will be offered advice and guidance for future prevention.
If we see signs of work-related hearing damage, we will recommend that you seek a medical evaluation of your audiogram. Your organisation is free to decide whether you will arrange further assessment with an ENT specialist yourself, or whether we should provide access to our affiliated occupational health physician for an additional fee. In either case, the physician will determine whether there are grounds for reporting the injury to the Danish Labour Market Insurance.
Your workplace will always receive a brief summary of your hearing test and any important points for concern. If more than 20 people undergo testing, it is possible to receive an extended report providing greater insight into employees’ hearing, use of protective equipment, and related matters.
