Stress
Manage and prevent psychological strain in the workplace
Every day, 460,000 Danes experience symptoms of stress, and many need to take sick leave due to psychological overload. Once the damage is done, it can be difficult to manage the situation on your own.
At Human House, we offer consulting that helps you move forward and provides you with practical tools for actively preventing stress in the future. We work at multiple levels and, together with you, design the right package to elevate your organisation’s prevention and wellbeing efforts.
Stress is a shared challenge that requires joint solutions
There are, unfortunately, no easy or quick fixes when it comes to stress. Preventing stress is a process that requires ongoing attention as part of your everyday work, so that you as an employee know what to look out for.
Of course, management carries a particular responsibility when it comes to psychological strain and poor wellbeing at work, and they should lead by example with their own stress management. A manager must know how to support an employee affected by stress and what considerations to make. But as an employee, you also have a responsibility to take care of yourself and support your colleagues. Fulfilling this responsibility as a team and as colleagues requires not just knowledge, but also an understanding of when and how to approach a colleague experiencing stress – and how to prevent poor wellbeing.
Book: Biological stress
The management book Biologisk Stress (Biological Stress) by Tue Isaksen explores workplace communities and the OLFA model. The book highlights why so many Danes are affected by stress every year.
The book is available in Danish only.
How we help you manage and prevent stress at work
Individual therapy sessions
Individual counselling is available if you are already off work due to stress or are at risk of becoming so. A typical course consists of five sessions that identify and explore the challenges, allowing us to work in depth to develop new responses and coping strategies.
The sessions are confidential. If you wish, we can provide your manager with feedback on how the workplace can create better conditions. Therapy sessions not only help you return to work faster, but also prevents future psychological overload.
Workplace meetings
Workplace meetings are available for employees affected by stress who wish to meet together with their manager and an occupational psychologist. This is an ideal way to introduce knowledge about stress at your organisation and foster mutual understanding between managers and staff. The occupational psychologist helps identify the workplace factors contributing to stress and how these can be minimised. The discussion also gives managers an overview of any general organisational issues that can be addressed to strengthen wellbeing and prevent stress among other employees.
Talks and workshops
Knowledge is a powerful tool when it comes to managing and preventing stress at work – but not all knowledge is the same. That’s why we deliver talks and workshops tailored to your organisation. Whether we are debunking myths about stress, exploring the biology behind it, or providing methods for prevention and management, our sessions are always based on the latest research and are delivered so that the learning can be applied immediately – whether you’re an employee, health and safety representative, or manager.
